Christine Laker

MS, RD, LDN

Hi! My name is Christine, and I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating.

I graduated from Indiana University with dual bachelor’s degrees in Nutrition Science and Dietetics, followed by pursuing a graduate degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion at Simmons University. My clinical and field experience was also completed through the Simmons University’s dietetic internship program with a concentration in eating disorders, which is one of the only comprehensive programs in the country that provides formal training in eating disorders and disordered eating.

For the past several years, I have been a part of The Renfrew Center of Massachusetts as a Registered Dietitian. Recently, I began my role as Regional Nutrition Manager, where I now oversee and provide guidance to the nutrition departments at the New York City, Paramus, and Boston locations. In addition to my time in higher levels of care, I also worked alongside Marci Evans from 2019 to 2023 at her private practice in Cambridge, MA. Marci exposed me to invaluable experiences and teachings that further solidified my passion for helping individuals overcome their struggles with food and body image in the outpatient setting.

My approach to nutrition counseling is centered around a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size (HAES™) perspective, which encompasses a holistic view of health that goes beyond just the number on the scale. Taking into consideration the multiple determinants of health, I believe in fostering an environment where individuals can embrace self-acceptance and compassion for their bodies. By shifting the focus away from weight and placing emphasis on trauma-informed, client-centered care, I aim to empower individuals to develop a nurturing relationship with food and their bodies.

My style of nutrition counseling is exposure-based, which is rooted in the belief that confronting emotions and facing distressing situations is essential for developing resilience and sustainable recovery. By guiding my clients to approach their fears and discomforts, instead of distracting and avoiding them, they can feel more able to navigate the nuances of eating disorder recovery and cope with body image distress for the long-term.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling home to Indiana where my family lives on a farm with two English bulldogs, cows, and even donkeys! I also love to rewatch episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, snuggle with my dog (Charlie the Chiweenie), and create yummy recipes to share with friends and family.
